The Basic Computer program introduces students
to the basic functionality and usability of a computer. This program
is designed for people with little or no computer experience. The
course features an introduction to basic hardware components, basic
computer navigation skills, basic electronic file management, Microsoft
Windows, Internet and email. This program will give students a
sound foundation for acquiring more complex computing skills to
enhance their efficiency in the dynamic world of computer technology.
Introduction to Computers
The hands-on computer course is designed for students with
LITTLE or NO computer experience. The student will learn the basics
of how a computer processes information through the integrated use
of hardware and software including the CPU, RAM, storage devices,
Modem, Monitor and Input/Output Devices. The students will also
learn to use Windows to create, delete and move file and folder.
Introduction to Internet
The student will learn to use Internet for research,
to book mark their favorite sites, to open and close note-pad, to
copy and paste the content from website to notepad and to save the
information in a file. The course will also introduce student to
Internet terminology (such as World Wide Web, hyperlink, help tip)
and Internet services such as using search engine to find information
related to work or project.
Introduction to Keyboarding
The Keyboarding class is a hands-on class for beginners,
as well as, for those who have some typing skills but want to improve
their speed and accuracy. The students will learn proper finger
positioning on a computer keyboard and how to type using Microsoft
Word and/or typing tools.
Introduction to e-Mail
The Introduction to email is a hands-on course that teaches
students how to set up a free email account, and how to send and
receive email messages.
