Afterschool Tech Club

Build your foundation in Technology with our live-online and hands-on computer classes led by NRCLC Certified instructor as part of the STEM program. We at NR Computer Learning Center understand that early adolescence is a time of positive transition and growth. At NR Computer Learning Center (NRCLC) afterschool Tech Program, we provide an environment where youth can work with their peers while exploring and developing new skills and interests in technology.

Tech Courses


The technology courses consist of lectures, notes, exercises, quizzes, and hands-on projects. During the week, the instructor will be available to answer any questions students may have via email and Skype. Note: A 30 hours course consists of 10 lessons. Each lesson includes lectures, exercises, quizzes, and projects. The student is expected to complete one lesson (3 hours) per week. Technology Pathways

About Our Program

NRCLC’s technology-related classes are aligned with STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics). Our project-based Teaching methodologies and progressive design help students develop skills in programming and generate love for learning technology. We maintain a small class size of 10 students to instructor ratio. NRCLC provides training in various technical courses including:

  • the building, installing operating system & troubleshooting computer
  • developing 2D games
  • programming a robot
  • making and editing their movie
  • taking and editing digital pictures
  • building a website or web profile using WordPress
  • learning HTML and JavaScript to develop an interactive website
  • learning programming languages (Java, C, C++, C#, Python) to develop applications
  • learning to program Arduino and Raspberry Pi
  • building applications utilizing Software development Life Cycle

We also provide students the opportunity to learn technology by volunteering at our summer camps. Our instructors also provide guidance to our students on how they can pursue their interests in technology in high school and college.

Program Director: Vazi Okhandiar, MCT, PMP, MBA, MSCS

Microsoft Trainer, Project Manager, SEO Expert, Software Design and Development, MBA, MCT, PMP, MSCSVazi Okhandiar has over 20 years of teaching experience in Computer Science courses and Microsoft Products. Vazi teaches both kids and adults. She has been helping students prepare for the AP Computer Science exam and Microsoft Certification Exam. She has worked in the capacity of managing, architecture, designing and implementing information technology projects for large clients such as the World Bank, General Motors, HP/EDS, Toyota, CSC, Olympus, and Mitsubishi, as well as numerous small and medium-sized enterprises.

Vazi has an MBA from the University of California, Irvine, a Master’s in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. She is also Microsoft Certified Training providing Microsoft and software development training.
