3. How do I know my college or university will accept the DSST exam?

Before you schedule to take the DSST exam, consult your admission officer, academic adviser, or professor to find out if your school policy accepts credit by examination.

4. What resources are available for preparing for a DSST exam?

Prometric offers exams Preparation Resources Online called “Practice Exams“. The practice exam contains approximately 50 questions for each title and is available for most of the DSST exam titles.

5. What is the process for signing up for the DSST practice test?

If you want to practice before taking the exam, follow the steps listed below:

  2. select your Practice exam title, Create an account or log in to your account in the Practice Exam Portal
  3. Confirm your practice test selection
  4. Launch your practice test

6. How do I register for a DSST exam?

Following are steps for registering for a DSST Exam:

  1. To take a DSST exam, you must schedule for your exam with a Prometric Authorized Testing Center DSST exam. NR Computer Learning Center is a Prometric Authorized testing center for the DSST exam. To schedule for a DSST exam with NR Computer Learning Center, visit https://www.nrclc.com/testing_center/dsst/ and pay the proctoring fee online.
  2. On the day of the exam, you must bring a Credit Card to pay online for the exam and an unexpired government-issued photo id, such as Driver’s License.
  3. Once the payment is processed, the system will automatically launch the exam.

7. What do I need to bring on the day of the exam?

On the day of the exam, you will need to bring an official government-approved Id with a picture and signature. A driver’s license will do. If you’re a military member, you must bring your military Id with you to waive the proctoring free.

Note: Photocopies, Pictures, and Expired ids are not an accessible form of Id.

You must also bring a Credit Card to pay for the DSST exam. The Prometric System only accepts Credit Card for payment to launch the exam.

9. Can I take a DSST exam at NR Computer Learning Center (NRCLC) and what is the process for taking the exam at NRCLC?

NR Computer Learning Center is a Prometric authorized testing center for DSST Exams. To take your DSST exam at NRCLC, follow the steps listed below:

  1. Go to the NRCLC Website at https://www.nrclc.com/testing_center/dsst
  2. On the DSST page, scroll down and click the “here” button to register to schedule your exam and pay for the proctoring fee.
  3. On the day of the exam, show your unexpired government issued id.
  4. Lock up all your items in the locker provided by the proctor.
  5. You are taken to the testing room.
  6. If you already have a DSST account, then you will log in to your account. Otherwise, you will create an account and then log in to the newly created account.
  7. You will select the exam and pay using a credit card.
  8. Once the payment goes through, the proctor will log in to launch the exam.
  9. The DSST exams are generally between 60 to 90 minutes long.
  10. Once done, you will go through the check out process where you will receive all your items from the locker before leaving the center.
