Succession Planning - The Risk of the Centurys (0.5 Day)
If a critical resource departed your organization, who would replace them with that has similar motivation, confidence and skills? Ask yourself, who in the company can replace you on a moments notice. For either situation you may have a difficult time deciding. A large majority of organizations do not know the answer. A recent survey indicated many companies aren’t paying enough attention to succession planning. There is not a designated successor for the highest-level positions in 50 percent of the large companies surveyed. The lack of a successor is simply poor planning and a sign of the lack of risk management. The lack of a successor leads to: a steep learning curve for the replacement; decrease in people productivity; confusion at all levels.
